Hands-on with MSI's GeForce RTX 5080 Modern Warfare 4 Edition OC
Ahead of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launch on October 23, we’ve had a sneak peek at MSI’s custom-themed graphics card: the GeForce RTX 5080 COD MW4 Edition OC. This isn't just a standard model with a new sticker; it's a full-scale special edition designed for diehard fans.
Design and Aesthetics: A Visual Tribute
MSI has gone all out with the bespoke packaging, featuring Captain Price and Ghost on the cover. Inside, the artwork takes on a high-detail, graphic novel aesthetic, specifically focusing on Ghost.
The most striking element is the backplate. Using Mylar, MSI has achieved a sense of depth and layering in the character portrait. The design also incorporates metal strips inspired by armor plating running along the side of the heatsink. The visual theme is tied together by yellow accents on the fan rings and the heatsink, matching the Modern Warfare 4 color palette.
Cooling and Hardware
Under the hood, the card is built on the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 platform. It utilizes a trio of Stormforce fans. Based on previous experience with the Vanguard model, these fans are expected to operate quietly, maintaining core temperatures below 65°C under gaming loads.
The package also includes a matching support stand that complements the card's aesthetic. While the custom elements are primarily visual, the execution of the armor-inspired plating and the layered backplate makes this a standout piece for collectors.
Pricing and Availability
The GeForce RTX 5080 COD MW4 Edition OC is set to launch on October 23. It will be available through retailers like Overclockers UK and the MSI UK eShop.
While official pricing remains unconfirmed, current market trends for standard RTX 5080 models starting at £1,399 suggest that this special edition will likely debut at a premium, potentially starting at £1,499.
