Metroid Ravenous announced for Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo has officially announced the side-scrolling action adventure game Metroid Ravenous for the upcoming Switch 2. The title is scheduled to launch on January 28, 2027.
The game places players in the role of Samus Aran, a renowned bounty hunter who has been ambushed by unknown attackers and stranded on an unfamiliar moon. To survive against vicious assailants and escape labyrinthine ruins, Samus must gather her arsenal, navigate complex corridors, hunt down powerful bosses, and use her newly awakened Metroid instincts to devour her foes.
Survival is key: players need to strike quickly and aggressively with beams, missiles, and more—lest they become the enemy's next meal. The announcement trailer highlights this eat-or-be-eaten premise as a central mechanic of the experience.
In addition to the game, an amiibo collection will release at launch featuring individual Samus and Chozo Statue figures. A third amiibo, titled Samus (Metroid Suit), will be bundled with a Special Edition that includes the game and a steel game case.
This announcement was made during Nintendo Direct: 2026.09.09, alongside other upcoming titles for the new console.
