New Marvel Cosmic Invasion: The Siege of Castle Doom gameplay details

Tribute Games has shared new details regarding Marvel Cosmic Invasion: The Siege of Castle Doom, the second DLC for Marvel Cosmic Invasion. Scheduled for release on November 10 for PlayStation 5, the expansion introduces a new game mode that blends classic Beat 'em Up combat with evolving, roguelite-style progression.

Set during the Annihilation Wave, the DLC focuses on the heroes' assault on Doctor Doom's stronghold, Doomstadt. The expansion will introduce two new playable characters: The Invisible Woman and Doctor Doom.

The core gameplay revolves around a dual-gauge mechanic: while Doctor Doom charges his Cosmic Inductor to achieve ultimate power, players must manage the Siege Gauge, which fills whenever heroes are defeated within the castle. To counter this, players must collect batteries to charge a Stabilizer, stalling Doom's progress and providing a tactical advantage.

The Siege of Castle Doom offers a significantly more intense experience than the base game, featuring over five times more encounters. Players will navigate treacherous environments, including blizzard-swept battlements and the experimental elevators of the Tower of Solitude. Progression through the halls is determined by choosing themed doors that offer various outcomes:

  • Equipment — special powers like force fields or energy blasts;
  • Events — arenas where gameplay rules are temporarily altered;
  • Heal — essential health restoration;
  • Infinite — power-ups providing infinite ammo or focus;
  • Progression — opportunities to collect batteries for Reed Richards' Stabilizer.

Character customization is enhanced through a Perks system, featuring three distinct branches: Offense, Defense, and Tactical. In multiplayer sessions, an MVP system will highlight the most effective players based on their statistics. Completing runs allows players to access Reed Richards’ Lab, where they can unlock new equipment, modifiers, and cosmetic palettes for their characters.
