Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 4.0.0 Update Adds Switch 2 Enhancements
Nintendo has released the version 4.0.0 update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, bringing significant enhancements for the Nintendo Switch 2 alongside general gameplay improvements.
The update introduces support for the Nintendo Switch 2 display and high-resolution TVs, resulting in clearer visuals. Load times before races and battles begin have also been shortened.
Multiplayer capacity has expanded to support five to eight players. To connect up to seven controllers, players can use standard Joy-Con or Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers. For an eight-player session, at least one Joy-Con 2 controller or a Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is required.
The patch also adds CameraPlay support, which requires a USB camera sold separately. Players can toggle the camera on or off in Multiplayer (two to four players) and Online Play modes. When using a camera on the internet, players must participate in a GameChat session, ensuring that video and audio are sent only to session members. With the camera enabled, a player’s face is displayed during the race.
General gameplay adjustments include a player speed increase equivalent to one coin. Additionally, players using Boo to become invisible will no longer slow down when entering offroad areas. Owners of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass will find a new “96 Races” option added to the “VS Race” rule settings.
