LG starts mass production of 720Hz Gaming OLED panel
LG has officially launched the mass production of a 24.5-inch "720Hz" Gaming OLED panel. Designed specifically for esports, this Full HD display offers the highest refresh rate currently available for OLED panels at 1920×1080 resolution.
Driving technology and motion clarity
To achieve a 720Hz refresh rate at Full HD, LG developed a proprietary driving algorithm that manages everything from the physical panel design to the signal control logic. With a response time of 0.02ms, the self-emissive pixels significantly reduce motion blur and ghosting, providing the extreme clarity required for fast-paced titles like first-person shooters and racing games.
Market availability and future roadmap
Asus is set to be the first manufacturer to implement this technology in its upcoming ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace monitor. The display is priced at $1,099 and has already been selected as the official monitor for the PGL CS2 Major Singapore 2026 tournament.
Looking ahead, LG intends to expand its gaming OLED lineup across various sizes, ranging from 20 to 40 inches. Future models in the series are expected to incorporate proprietary Dynamic Frequency & Resolution (DFR) technology and AI-driven enhancements to improve display performance.
