Intel is reportedly targeting a Q1 2027 release for its first Nova Lake-S desktop processors, according to a leaked presentation slide shared by tech leaker @wxnod on X. The document, which appears to originate from a partner briefing rather than an official Intel announcement, outlines a production timeline and confirms several previously rumored specifications, including high core counts and a significant increase in cache capacity.

The leaked slide indicates that Intel plans to commence mass production of the next-generation Nova Lake-S desktop processor in Q4 2026, followed by market availability in Q1 2027. Initially, the lineup will consist of smaller monolithic single-die chips featuring up to 28 cores. These cores are split between Performance (P), Efficient (E), and Low Power Efficient (LP-E) variants. The dual-die flagship models, which pack up to 52 cores, are listed as arriving later in the year.

A key technical detail confirmed by the leak is the inclusion of a Big Last Level Cache (bLLC). This feature provides next-generation Intel CPUs with up to 288MB of cache, a substantial increase compared to the current flagship, which carries 40MB of L2 plus 36MB of L3 cache. This capacity would place the new Nova Lake-S ahead of AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, which offers a total of 208MB in L2 and L3 cache. The slide claims this larger cache will result in a leap in gaming performance, similar to the impact of AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology.

On the platform side, the leak lists the new LGA1954 socket and 900-series chipset. The document states that the new socket will “support multiple generations of upgrades,” a claim that aligns with previous comments from Intel’s Robert Hallock. He previously indicated that Intel sees a future where its sockets support more CPU generations, potentially rivaling the longevity of AMD’s AM4 platform. The slide also confirms support for DDR5 memory, including compatibility with faster memory modules in the future.

Regarding naming conventions, the leaked slide references Nova Lake-S processors as having three-digit Core Ultra 400-series names. This contradicts previous rumors suggesting a four-digit Core Ultra 4000 numbering scheme. Notably, the slide makes no mention of AVX-512 support, a feature expected to return to consumer Intel hardware after five years of absence. The leak also briefly references the upcoming Razor Lake and Hammer Lake series as coming in Q4 2027 or later, without providing further details.

While this leak appears legitimate and corroborates many previous reports, it remains an unofficial document. Intel has not officially confirmed these specifications or the Q1 2027 release target. The information should be treated as a strong indication of the company’s roadmap rather than a final announcement.
