Intel to move Core Ultra 200H and 200U to embedded supply
Intel has issued a Product Change Notification (PCN) regarding nine mobile processors from the Core Ultra 200H and 200U series. The company is preparing to shift these chips from its standard Intel Architecture business to the Intel Embedded Architecture division.
It is important to clarify that this move does not mean the processors are being discontinued. Instead, Intel is changing the supply model. Standard commercial ordering for these chips will end in May 2027, with final shipments scheduled for November 2027. From that point forward, the processors will be handled through the embedded supply channel, which involves different contractual terms and pricing structures than the standard commercial business.
Affected Processors
The transition affects nine mobile processors designed for laptops and compact systems. This includes five Core Ultra 200H models and four low-power Core Ultra 200U models. Notably, the high-performance Core Ultra 200HX and the Core Ultra 200V series are not included in this specific notification.
- Core Ultra 5 H: 225H, 235H
- Core Ultra 7 H: 255H, 265H
- Core Ultra 9 H: 285H
- Core Ultra 5 U: 225U, 235U
- Core Ultra 7 U: 255U, 265U
Timeline and Market Impact
According to Intel's notice, May 21, 2027, marks the deadline for standard orders. After this date, all orders will become non-cancelable and non-returnable. The final shipments under standard commercial terms are slated for November 19, 2027. Following this, embedded pricing and contractual conditions will apply to all customers. For general consumers purchasing pre-built laptops, there is no immediate impact from this change.
