GMKtec Unveils EVO-X5 Pro: An AI Mini PC Capable of Running 300B LLMs
GMKtec has introduced the EVO-X5 Pro-192/2T-W11Pro (AI495), a mini PC designed to push the boundaries of local AI processing. Powered by the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 and equipped with a massive 192GB of memory, the manufacturer claims this machine is capable of running large language models (LLMs) with up to 300 billion parameters locally.
The core value proposition of the EVO-X5 Pro lies in its memory capacity and bandwidth, which are vital for large-scale AI inference. The system features 192GB of LPDDR5X-8533 RAM (configured as 8x24GB modules). This high-density memory setup allows the device to handle massive datasets that typically require workstation-class hardware or high-capacity desktop configurations.

Under the hood, the unit utilizes the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor and a 2TB NVMe PCIe 4.0x4 SSD. To manage the thermal output of such a high-performance setup, GMKtec has implemented a cooling solution consisting of a vapor chamber and three fans. Additionally, a dedicated performance mode button allows users to toggle between three different TDP (Thermal Design Power) settings, providing control over the power-to-performance ratio.

Connectivity and Cluster Potential
Despite its compact footprint (195x80x221mm), the EVO-X5 Pro offers extensive I/O options. It supports simultaneous quad-display output via one HDMI 2.1 (8K@60Hz) port, two USB4 V2 ports (4K@60Hz), and two USB4 ports (4K@60Hz). Notably, the inclusion of USB4 V2 enables the creation of computing clusters through interconnecting multiple units, allowing for distributed processing tasks.

The device is expected to launch in Japan in late November through distributor Links International, with an estimated retail price of ¥1,250,000. Other key specifications include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, dual 10GbE RJ45 LAN ports, and a power button with integrated fingerprint authentication. The package includes an AC adapter, an HDMI cable, and documentation.
