Grand Theft Auto VI has had a turbulent road to release. Announced with a massive trailer in 2023, the game — starring Lucia, Rockstar's first playable female protagonist — was initially targeting a vague Fall 2025 window before a string of delays.
The Delay Timeline
The game first publicly delayed to May 26, 2026. That date slipped again, and November 19, 2026 became the new confirmed date. But Zelnick's comments during the May 21 earnings call revealed something more: he called the cumulative delay from the original internal target "about 18 months". From Fall 2025 to November 2026 is only 12–14 months — implying a third delay that predates the public announcements.
