Green Games Jam Awards 2026: Northern Forge and Runaway Play Lead Winners
The 2026 Green Games Jam Awards, hosted by Playing for the Planet, took place last week at BFI Southbank. The ceremony recognized developers for their achievements in sustainable game development and environmental storytelling.
A total of 11 awards were presented, with Northern Forge Studios and Runaway Play leading the ceremony with two wins each. Northern Forge Studios secured the Best Small Studio award, while their title Orna: The GPS RPG earned the UNEP's Choice. Runaway Play took home the Best Storytelling award for Flutter: Butterfly Sanctuary and received Google's Choice for Splash – Fish Aquarium.
In the individual and major corporate categories, Maria Sayans from Ustwo Games was honored with the Champion award, and CD Projekt Red received the Changemaker accolade. Additionally, Rovio Entertainment was recognized for Best Fundraising for Angry Birds Friends and Angry Birds Dream Blast.
Lisa Pak, head of operations at Playing for the Planet, noted that the event demonstrates how games can bring environmental stories to life and inspire players to protect the planet. The awards concluded the Green Games Summit, which featured contributions from companies including Hasbro, Supercell, and Playstack. The 8th edition of the Green Game Jam is expected to arrive in 2027.
