GMKtec has unveiled the EVO-X5 Pro, a compact AI workstation built around the Ryzen AI Max+ 495 Pro processor and equipped with 192 GB of unified memory. The system was presented at IFA in Berlin, marking the start of market availability for the Ryzen AI Max 400 series.

The Ryzen AI Max+ 495 Pro features 16 cores and an integrated graphics unit with 40 Compute Units. A key architectural advantage is the ability to allocate up to 160 GB of the total 192 GB memory pool to the GPU, a configuration particularly relevant for developers and researchers working with local AI models who require large, fast memory bandwidth.

Connectivity options include four USB-4 ports, two 10 Gbit/s Ethernet ports, additional USB-A connectors, and HDMI for video output. The system also features a dedicated physical button to switch between different performance profiles, allowing users to adjust power limits without navigating through the BIOS. While the specific TDP boundaries for these profiles were not disclosed at the event, the hardware-level switching mechanism offers a convenient alternative to software-based configuration.

The EVO-X5 Pro is initially available only in this maximum memory configuration. The system is scheduled to become available in October, though pricing has not yet been announced. This launch follows AMD's broader push at IFA, where the company also introduced the Threadripper Halo Station, signaling a wider industry focus on high-memory AI workstations.
