Genshin Impact Ver.7.1 Details: New Characters and Major Story Developments
HoYoverse has revealed details regarding the upcoming Ver.7.1 update for Genshin Impact, titled "Requiem in the Abyss". The update is scheduled for release on September 23, 2026. This patch is expected to be a major narrative turning point as players face the powerful "Death Executive" known as Lonovava and uncover more mysteries regarding the Tsaritsa's collection of Gnoses.
The core of the update focuses on the Archon Quests, specifically Chapter VII, Acts III and IV. The storyline will feature a confrontation with the powerful entity Lonovava, and may finally reveal why the Tsaritsa is gathering the Gnoses.
In the first half of the update, two new five-star characters, Vesna and Vojaniča, will be introduced through the Event Wish. Vesna is an Anemo character wielding a sword, featuring a combat style centered around the "Star Diffusion" reaction and the accumulation of "Sword Qi." The second half of the patch will feature reruns for Skirk and Escofier.
The update is also tied to the game's 6th anniversary. To celebrate, HoYoverse is offering rewards, including the ability to obtain one limited and one standard five-star character for free, along with Primogems and Intertwined Fates. Additionally, the "Moonlight Festival" will return to Liyue for the first time in five years.
The update will be available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS, and Android.
