GDC Festival of Gaming меняет формат 2027 года: новый бизнес-холл и гибкие билеты

GDC Festival of Gaming has officially announced significant structural changes for its 2027 event, held at Moscone West in San Francisco. The primary focus of the reorganization is the introduction of a new Business Hall, designed specifically to facilitate meetings and relationship-building within the official campus. This initiative aims to provide a dedicated home for the thousands of industry professionals who attend GDC primarily for networking, moving these interactions away from hotel lobbies and coffee shops into a purpose-built space at Moscone West.

Mark DeLoura, VP of content strategy at GDC, explained that the new Business Hall will occupy the space previously used for Speed Networking in 2026. The decision was driven by industry feedback indicating a need for more focused and affordable ways to participate depending on individual goals. "We felt some of those conversations were simply too valuable and relevant to the broader industry to restrict them to one pass type," DeLoura stated, emphasizing that great sessions should not be locked behind premium tiers.

To support this new structure, GDC is introducing three new ticket options alongside existing passes. The Business Hall Only pass costs $99 and is intentionally accessible for those whose primary goal is meetings. For those interested in discovery and demos, the Festival Hall Only pass is priced at $149. A new 1-Day Career pass for $99 will allow attendees to focus on Friday sessions. Additionally, GDC plans to separate previously combined Indie and Start-Up passes into distinct options, ensuring that established independent studios are not excluded based on their age.

The pricing strategy reflects a broader effort to increase flexibility and accessibility. The Game Changer pass remains the premium experience at $1,149, offering benefits like the Game Changer Lounge. However, perks such as the Luminaries Speaker Series have evolved into a conference track available to all attendees. Similarly, the Digital Pass has been withdrawn as a bundled product; instead, access to GDC Vault will be offered directly as a subscription or add-on for $649, giving users a clearer choice between on-demand sessions and live events.

Significant changes also affect the event schedule. The Festival Hall will now open from Tuesday to Thursday, while GDC Nights will run from Monday to Wednesday. Key highlights include the Developer's Concert on Monday, the GDC Awards on Tuesday, and the Independent Games Festival Awards on Wednesday. DeLoura clarified that reducing community events from four evenings to three was not due to attendance concerns but rather to improve the rhythm of GDC week, allowing space for partner events and preventing fatigue.

The overall goal for GDC 2027 is to make the event more accessible and easier to navigate for a diverse audience. Whether someone is looking for funding, doing deals, hiring talent, or reconnecting with peers, the new structure allows them to choose the depth of experience that makes sense for their specific needs. As DeLoura summarized, "GDC 2027 is about giving people more choices in how they participate at the show, making the week work better for the way the industry uses GDC today." The event will take place between March 1 and March 5 at Moscone Center.
