FURIA eliminate G2 and advance to the Esports World Cup 2026 semifinals

FURIA secured a hard-fought victory over G2 Esports in the quarterfinals of the Esports World Cup 2026, advancing to the semifinals. The series ended with a score of 2:1.

The match began with FURIA taking an early lead on Ancient, winning it 13:3. However, G2 responded strongly, sweeping the next two maps to take a 2-1 series lead. They defeated Anubis 13:3 and then Dust2 13:6, putting them on the verge of elimination.

FURIA refused to give up. On the final map, Dust2, they managed to close out the series with a decisive 13-6 victory, securing their spot in the semifinals. The MVP of the match was Danil "molodoy" Golubenko, who recorded 47 kills and 21 deaths for an ADR of 92, finishing second on the server behind only Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis.

This win marked G2 Esports's sole victory in the playoffs. Following this loss to FURIA, the team exits the tournament in 5th–8th place, taking home $60,000 in prize money.

FURIA, meanwhile, have guaranteed themselves at least a fourth-place finish and will face the winner of FUT vs. MOUZ for a place in the grand final. The Counter-Strike 2 tournament at the Esports World Cup 2026 runs from August 12 to 23, with thirty-two teams competing for a total prize pool of $2 million.
