ASL Season 22: Playoff spots determined in Seoul

The ASL league from Soop has moved to its decisive phase. The second round of the group stage took place from August 24–26 at the FrigUp Studio. Eight teams have advanced to the playoffs, where they will now battle for a spot in the top 16.

In Group D, matches were played between teams based on the Z race: 조일장, 김경모, and 임홍규. The group also featured a single representative of the T race — 윤찬희. The match was interesting due to the confrontation between three teams based on Z and the attempt by the lone terran to break through their dense defense.

Group E gathered on August 25. It featured 김민철, a four-time ASL champion, against his opponents: 임진묵, 정영재, and 최호선. All of them play on the T base. The main question was who among the three terrans could defeat the experienced veteran.

Group F on August 26 became an arena for a confrontation between 변현제 and three teams based on Z: 김윤환, 김명운, and 김정우. Despite past successes of 변현제, the outcome of the match remains unclear due to high competition among players based on Z.

The tournament also included 12 teams that passed the qualification stage in the previous round. Among them are 박상현, 신상문, 이재호, and 장윤철. The formation of groups for the playoffs will take place on August 31.
