Framework Desktop with Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 and 192GB memory starts at $6,799
Framework has opened pre-orders for its new desktop system powered by the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor. The DIY Edition, featuring 192GB of LPDDR5X-8533 unified memory, starts at $6,799, with the first units scheduled to ship in November.
Technical Specs and AI Capabilities
The Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 is based on the Zen 5 architecture, featuring 16 cores and 32 threads with boost clocks reaching up to 5.2 GHz. It includes integrated Radeon 8065S graphics with 40 compute units running at up to 3.0 GHz. Utilizing a 256-bit interface with LPDDR5X-8533 memory, the system delivers a bandwidth of 273 GB/s.
This high-speed, high-capacity memory configuration is specifically targeted at local AI workloads. Framework states that the system is capable of running models such as DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash Q2 and MiMo V2.6 Flash RL MXFP4.
Hardware Design and Connectivity
In addition to the memory upgrade—moving from the 128GB LPDDR5X-8000 found in the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 model to 192GB—Framework has implemented physical changes to the expansion options. The PCIe 4.0 x4 slot now features an open-ended design, allowing users to physically install full-sized x8 or x16 cards, even though they will operate within the x4 electrical interface. This is particularly useful for high-speed networking adapters like the Intel E810 for 50GbE connections.
A firmware update has also boosted USB4 point-to-point networking throughput from approximately 9 Gbps to around 30 Gbps. Cooling is handled by a 120mm Noctua NF-A12x25 HS-PWM fan. Notably, Framework is not offering Windows configurations for the Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 version; pre-built systems will come with Fedora pre-installed.
