Fallout 76 Public Test Server launches on Xbox Series X|S
Fallout 76 players on XBOX Series X|S can now access the first Public Test Server (PTS) for the console version of the game. Starting today, eligible users can test upcoming performance updates and provide feedback before they reach the live environment.
Tim, Xbox Program Manager, announced that testing begins immediately for owners of Fallout 76 or those with an active Game Pass subscription. This PTS marks a significant step in bringing the game natively to Xbox Series hardware, optimizing it for better efficiency and future updates.
Performance Goals
The primary focus of this update is performance optimization on the latest console generation. Players can expect:
- Targeted 60 FPS gameplay on Xbox Series X|S.
- 4K resolution support on compatible displays for the Series X.
- Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support on compatible displays for both Series X and S.
This native implementation allows developers to utilize hardware more efficiently today and in future iterations, ensuring a smoother experience across all console hardware.
What to Expect on the PTS
Before jumping into the test environment, keep these rules in mind:
- Character Transfer: A snapshot of your live game characters, weapons, armor, items, and C.A.M.P.S. will be imported.
- No Atomic Shop: The in-game store is inactive during the test cycle.
- No Seasonal Content: Current seasonal events are not active.
- Progression Reset: Progress made in the PTS does not transfer to the live game. A new snapshot is taken before every test cycle, meaning your character progression does not persist between sessions.
Additionally, the PTS Locker located outside Vault 76 will be available to provide easy access to mods and assets for specific feedback features. Please note that bugs are expected as part of the testing process, and most new content is currently limited to English only due to translation status.
How to Join
To access the Public Test Server:
- Sign in to your XBOX Series X|S console.
- Launch the XBOX Insider Hub app (or install it from the Store if needed).
- Navigate to Previews and select Fallout 76 (Public Test Server).
- Select Join and wait for registration to complete.
