Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen — expansion details revealed

The Capcom expansion Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is set to launch on October 9, 2026. This new content expands the original adventure with fresh territories and specialized gameplay mechanics.

The expansion introduces the northern region of Norgan, specifically the Ruined Land. A major highlight of this area is the introduction of "relics"—items with randomized properties. These relics can grant elemental resistances, increase damage against specific monster types, or add status effects like poison to attacks, adding a hack-and-slash layer to the experience.

To accommodate players at different stages, the expansion includes "Forgotten Rites" dungeons. These are accessible starting from level 20 and offer high-tier equipment, providing a progression path for those not yet ready for the main expansion content.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version features a unique distribution model: the base game and the expansion will be bundled together in a single package. On PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, players have the option to purchase the full set or the expansion as a standalone purchase. However, owning the original Dragon's Dogma 2 remains a requirement for all platforms.

Additionally, the base game has received several quality-of-life updates ahead of the expansion's release. These include the addition of the "Ephemeral Permanent Stone" for unlimited fast travel, expanded save slots, and a new "Hard" mode that provides double experience for players seeking a greater challenge.
