The development team consists of experienced coders who previously collaborated on the DK64 Randomizer, including Rainchus, Ballaam, Killklli, 2dos, and Umedtakes. Their approach involves reverse-engineering the original N64 binary code—software not originally designed for modern processors—and translating it into C. This process enables the game to execute directly on Windows, Linux, and macOS systems without relying on emulation overhead.

One of the most significant advantages of this native port is its performance optimization. Unlike traditional emulators that must simulate older hardware in real-time, DK64 ReKONGpiled offers engine-level control over the game's execution. Users can experience true high-resolution support with flexible aspect ratios, including ultrawide monitors, and enjoy uncapped framerates without needing to artificially speed up the gameplay. The project also features modern input mapping for keyboard and mouse, alongside full controller support.
