DK returns to Worlds Top 8 after 4 years
Dplus KIA has advanced to the quarterfinals of the League of Legends World Championship. During the third round of the Swiss Stage in Texas, they defeated Movistar KoI 2-0, becoming the first team to secure a spot in the top 8.
This marks the first time Dplus KIA has reached the quarterfinals in four years, their previous appearance being at the 2022 tournament in New York. The deciding moment of the first game came at the 38-minute mark, when Smash (Shin Geum-jae) secured a pentakill on Kai'Sa to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
The team maintained their momentum in the second game. Following an early kill on the bottom lane and strong play from ShowMaker (Heo Su) on Syndra, Dplus KIA secured the Baron buff and closed out the match at the 25-minute mark by destroying the enemy Nexus.
