Cyberpunk 2077's Update 2.5 adds new quests and handgun dual wielding
CD Projekt Red and co-devs Virtuos are set to release Update 2.5 for Cyberpunk 2077 on October 22nd. The patch arrives shortly after the release of the second season of the Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime.
The update features a significant amount of content tied to the anime's release. Players can expect a new prequel quest titled Clampdown, which offers gear inspired by the series, alongside a new radio station featuring tracks from both seasons of Edgerunners. Additionally, a non-anime-related quest, Welcome to Paradise, will introduce players to the lore of Night City through lectures by its founder, Richard Night.
Combat mechanics are also getting a major boost with the introduction of the Double Trouble perk. This allows players to dual-wield pistols and revolvers. However, this feature is strictly limited to Power handguns; dual-wielding katanas or assault rifles is not part of the update. According to Paweł Sasko, this limitation was implemented to maintain game balance and prevent excessive damage output.
Visual customization is also expanding via five new vendors known as glamdocs. These specialists offer 40 alternative looks for cyberware, such as Mantis Blades and Gorilla Arms, allowing them to resemble the tech used by various Night City gangs and corporations. While these vendors provide aesthetic variety and color customization, standard installation still requires visiting traditional ripperdocs.
Finally, the update will introduce cross-platform modding support, a significant quality-of-life improvement for console players. The full list of changes will be available in the official patch notes upon release.
