CS2 Game Files Hint at New M14 Sniper Rifle
Data found in Counter-Strike 2 files points to a potential new sniper rifle: the M14. If Valve decides to implement it, this would mark the first new weapon introduced to the game since the release of the MP5-SD in August 2018.
According to the weapons.vdata file, the M14 is expected to cost $4,100 and feature a five-round magazine. Its stats suggest a high-precision niche distinct from the AWP ($4,750); while it deals less damage to the body, it carries a x4 headshot multiplier. The weapon is expected to award $100 per kill and utilizes .338 ammunition with scoped aiming capabilities enabled.
The introduction of new weaponry is a rare occurrence in the franchise. The last addition was the MP5-SD in 2018, following the R8 Revolver in 2015. While it remains unclear whether the M14 is nearing release or is still in internal testing, the presence of detailed combat statistics in the live game files suggests the project is more than just a scrapped concept.
