Colorful launches 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 kit with Chinese-made DRAM
The manufacturer Colorful has listed a new iGame Shadow II DDR5-6000 CL30 memory kit in China. The 32GB configuration is notable for using domestically produced DRAM chips, though the specific manufacturer of the memory dies has not been disclosed.
Technical Specifications and Features
The kit includes two 16GB modules rated at 6000 MT/s with CL30-38-38 timings at 1.4V. To support these high-frequency operations, the modules utilize a 10-layer PCB. The hardware features large metal heat spreaders and RGB lighting, with support for both Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO profiles.
Interestingly, Colorful has provided detailed warnings regarding high-frequency memory usage. The company advises against mixing two separate two-DIMM kits—even if they are the same brand—into a four-DIMM configuration, stating this can cause compatibility issues or prevent the modules from reaching their rated overclocked speeds. Instead, they recommend purchasing a single factory-matched high-capacity kit for users needing more memory.
Pricing and Availability
The new CL30 kit is priced at 3,999 yuan (around $596). This represents a 500 yuan premium over the previous DDR5-6000 CL36 version, which was priced at 3,499 yuan (~$522). Currently, there are no indications that these modules will be released outside of the Chinese market.
