Bad Ice-Cream Resort announced for Switch and PC
Following the announcement of the Bad Ice-Cream Triple Scoop remaster, Nitrome has unveiled Bad Ice-Cream Resort, a brand-new standalone sequel to its iconic arcade puzzle series. The game is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. While a release date remains unannounced, a Kickstarter campaign is expected to launch soon.
The project marks a significant evolution for the franchise, which saw over 100 million plays during the Flash era. Bad Ice-Cream Resort moves the action to the tropical Sunshine Cove, where players navigate a conflict between colorful treats and the Gelato Family crime syndicate. The game features hand-drawn HD art, upgrading the retro aesthetic for modern displays.
Gameplay expands beyond simple grid-based puzzles into a sprawling campaign map featuring branching paths and massive boss battles. The title supports 1–4 player local cooperative play—including two players on a single keyboard—and online multiplayer via Steam Remote Play Together. To keep the action frantic, the game introduces a dedicated Battle Mode with unlockable arenas.
Mechanically, the sequel introduces new layers of strategy through collectible upgrades: temporary weapon-like Toppings and permanent stat-boosting Additives. The core cast—Vanilla, Sorbet, Chocolate, and Strawberry—has also been redesigned with distinct personalities and visual details, moving away from the simple recolors of the original browser versions.
