ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI may increase motherboard prices in Q3 2026
Major motherboard manufacturers ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI are expected to raise product prices in the third quarter of 2026. The move comes as companies face a trifecta of reduced volumes, stagnant market prices and escalating manufacturing costs while DIY demand remains weak due to ongoing RAM shortages.
According to a report from Board Channels shared by VideoCardz, the primary driver for these price increases is a dramatic rise in PCB costs, which have climbed by at least 50% this calendar year. Raw materials such as copper are also seeing significant price hikes, alongside surface-mount capacitors, power devices and supporting control chips.
This news arrives during a tumultuous period for the PC DIY scene. Drastic increases in RAM and VRAM prices have already made system builds too expensive for many users, weakening demand for new motherboards. The decline in motherboard shipments forces manufacturers to distribute higher development, production and logistics costs across fewer units, resulting in higher retail prices for consumers.
While budget motherboards are unlikely to be significantly affected, mid-range and high-end models are expected to become even more expensive. Recent years have seen excellent high-end boards coupling expansive feature sets with top-notch build quality; there is hope that manufacturers will not be forced to lower the quality bar simply to keep pricing respectable.
