AOC reveals 1,000Hz gaming monitor for esports enthusiasts
AOC has unveiled its fastest gaming monitor to date, the Agon Pro AGP257FT. The standout feature is a 1,000Hz refresh rate, which can be overclocked to 1,050Hz. To achieve this, the manufacturer has implemented an oxide-based Fast IPS panel, designed to overcome the voltage-response limitations that typically hinder standard LCD performance at such extreme speeds.
Technical Specifications and Response Times
The monitor features a 24.5-inch diagonal with a native 1920×1080 resolution, resulting in 90 PPI. While sharpness is not the primary focus, this form factor is a staple for esports professionals. AOC claims incredibly low response times: 0.3ms grey-to-grey (GtG), which drops to 0.1ms via MPRT technology. To maintain a true 1,000Hz experience, pixels must transition within a 1ms timeframe, and the oxide-based design is intended to meet this requirement.
This panel architecture is reminiscent of technology expected in upcoming competitor models, such as the LG UltraGear 25G590B. This is a significant technical shift, as previous 1,000Hz monitors released earlier this year often struggled to hit the critical 1ms response time target in real-world conditions.
Color Performance and Ergonomics
Beyond raw speed, the AGP257FT includes features tailored for competitive play. The included stand features measurement markings, allowing players to replicate their exact home viewing position during LAN tournaments. Regarding visual quality, the panel offers up to 450 nits of brightness, with full sRGB coverage and 90% of DCI-P3. However, AOC has not provided specific color accuracy figures.
The Agon Pro AGP257FT is expected to launch in Q1 2027. While official pricing has not been disclosed, the advanced technology involved suggests a premium price point.
