Psychological Thriller Anti-Anti by Former Webtoon Artist Launches on Steam
The psychological thriller visual novel Anti-Anti officially launched on Steam on October 27. Developed by the solo studio 5J6B Works, the title is the work of a former webtoon artist who spent approximately two years teaching themselves programming and all other aspects of game production.
Set in a world devastated by the emergence of mysterious creatures, Anti-Anti explores a reality where a legendary idol named Light brought peace, intertwining the fates of monsters and idols. The narrative revolves around the unsettling premise that "only monsters become perfect idols."
Players control a protagonist forced into the Next Bright idol audition despite having no memory of applying. The gameplay emphasizes psychological mind games and the consequences of player choices rather than complex puzzles, featuring numerous branching paths and multiple endings as characters' stories intersect.
The developer confirmed that while generative AI was used as an auxiliary tool for coding and translation, all core creative elements were crafted manually. The release includes:
- approximately 300,000 characters of scenario;
- 229 CGs and 57 background images;
- 18 characters animated with Spine2D;
- 16 original music tracks.
The project successfully completed a Tumblbug crowdfunding campaign, raising 10.68 million won and reaching 213% of its original goal. Anti-Anti is available on Windows PC with support for Korean, English, and Japanese. The game is intended for mature audiences and contains themes of violence, gore, and sexual content.
