AMD Zen 2 says hello, ASUS adds Ryzen 3 30-based Mini PC with rebranded Mendocino CPU
ASUS has launched a new Mini PC VM31 powered by the Ryzen 3 30 processor. In reality, this is the Mendocino chip from 2022, rebranded under AMD's new Ryzen 10 series while retaining its Zen 2 architecture.
ASUS has announced a new Mini PC in the VM31 lineup running on the Ryzen 3 30 processor. Technically, this is not a new architecture: it is the Mendocino chip built on a 6nm process using Zen 2, originally introduced in September 2022.
The VM31 configuration features a quad-core Zen 2 processor with eight threads and integrated Radeon 610M graphics. Its performance matches the Ryzen 3 7320U launched in late 2022. The only significant change is the marketing rebranding: AMD has assigned this chip to the new Ryzen 10 series, though the underlying architecture remains unchanged.
The system supports up to 16GB of LPDDR5x-5500 memory and M.2 PCIe storage ranging from 128GB to 512GB. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and a 2.5GbE Ethernet port. The chassis measures 135 × 115 × 35.8 mm and weighs just 330 grams.
ASUS offers the system preloaded with Windows 11 Home or Pro, as well as barebone versions without an operating system. All variants operate within a 15W power limit. The Ryzen 3 30 model is already available in China, while European retailers are expected to receive stock around mid-February.
