AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 Mini PCs with 192GB Memory Hit $8,000
Several manufacturers are preparing compact workstations based on the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495, with configurations offering up to 192GB of unified memory. These systems, showcased at IFA, are primarily designed for local AI workloads, including large language models and other applications that demand substantial memory capacity. The processor belongs to the Gorgon Halo product family, which replaces the Ryzen AI Max 300 platform.
The Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 features 16 Zen 5 CPU cores and an integrated RDNA 3.5 graphics processor with 40 compute units. AMD's integrated Radeon RX 8655S can access up to 160GB of the system memory, with the remainder reserved for CPU tasks and the operating system. This unified memory architecture allows the CPU and GPU to share a large RAM pool, which is particularly useful for running local AI models that exceed the memory capacity of typical mini PCs. However, these systems are priced closer to small workstations and servers rather than consumer mini PCs.
Acemagic F9A-Pro495
The Acemagic F9A-Pro495 combines the Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 with an aluminum enclosure, RGB lighting, and integrated voice control hardware. The case includes four 360-degree microphones and a 2-watt speaker for voice responses, with a Copilot button on the front panel. The system features two M.2 SSD slots, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. An OCuLink connector provides a direct PCIe 4.0 connection for external graphics cards. Additional connectivity includes HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1, dual 2.5Gb Ethernet, and multiple USB4 ports. A five-heatpipe cooling system supports processor operation up to 120W. Pre-orders are scheduled to begin on September 10, with a launch expected in October. A configuration with 192GB of memory and 8TB of storage is expected to cost approximately $8,000.
GMKTec EVO X5-Pro
The GMKTec EVO X5-Pro uses a metal chassis that can be positioned horizontally or vertically. The front panel includes a fingerprint reader integrated into the power button and a separate control for power profile switching. GMKTec has equipped the system with four USB4 ports supporting speeds up to 80Gbps. The system also includes HDMI 2.1, 10Gb Ethernet, 2.5Gb Ethernet, and three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots. A vapor chamber and three fans can dissipate up to 132W of heat. Unlike the Acemagic system, the EVO X5-Pro does not include OCuLink. Instead, GMKTec emphasizes high-speed USB4 connectivity for connecting multiple systems within a cluster. The system is scheduled for launch in October, but the company has not yet announced pricing.
Lenovo ThinkCentre X Ultra
The Lenovo ThinkCentre X Ultra targets business users and offers up to 128GB of memory, rather than the full 192GB supported by the platform. The integrated graphics processor can be allocated up to 96GB. The system includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports supporting DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1, 10Gb Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. With AMD DASH support, administrators can manage the computer remotely. A removable rear panel can be configured with additional network interfaces or VGA connectors. Lenovo plans to launch the ThinkCentre X Ultra in November. The starting price is approximately €3,100, but the largest memory configuration is expected to cost more.
Minisforum N5 MAX and MS-S1 MAX
The Minisforum N5 MAX and MS-S1 MAX are designed for high-capacity storage and AI systems. The N5 MAX includes five 3.5-inch drive bays and five PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots. The company claims total storage capacity of up to 200TB, but only one M.2 slot provides the full four lanes of PCIe bandwidth. This system includes a built-in 250W power supply and can run Minisforum's MinisCloud OS or other operating systems. Versions with the Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 and 192GB of memory are expected to cost between $7,500 and $8,000. Minisforum does not plan to offer this configuration as a standard online product but will handle individual requests. The MS-S1 MAX is expected to be more widely available starting in October. This model includes 192GB of memory, two M.2 slots, a low-profile PCIe slot operating at PCIe 4.0 x4, dual 10Gb Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. Unlike the Acemagic and N5 MAX systems, it includes a 320W internal power supply. The expected price is approximately $8,000.
These new systems reflect growing interest in compact computers with workstation-level memory capacity. Their unified memory architecture offers practical advantages for local AI development, but the prices remain high, making the systems primarily suitable for professional users, developers, and enterprises.
