AMD Preparing Ryzen 5 7500 for AM5
AMD is reportedly preparing a new Ryzen 5 7500 processor for the AM5 socket, according to a post by leaker Roland Quandt on Bluesky. The chip is expected to sit between the existing Ryzen 5 7500F and the 7500X3D in the lineup, offering a 6-core, 12-thread configuration based on the Zen 4 (Raphael) architecture.
According to the leaked specifications, the Ryzen 5 7500 will feature a base clock of 3.7 GHz and a maximum boost clock of 5.0 GHz. The total cache size is reported to be 38 MB, which likely breaks down into 32 MB of L3 cache and 6 MB of L2 cache. The thermal design power (TDP) is listed at 65 W. These specifications are very similar to those of the 7500F variant, particularly regarding clock speeds. The 5.0 GHz boost clock matches the 7500F, whereas the 7500X3D is limited to 4.5 GHz due to the overhead associated with its 3D V-Cache technology.
The pricing of the new processor raises questions about its positioning. The Ryzen 5 7500F currently sells for approximately $130 to $140, having launched at a retail price of $180 for the boxed package. In contrast, the 7500X3D is currently trading at around $285. The new Ryzen 5 7500 is expected to launch at approximately €230, which converts to roughly $267. This price point is comparable to, or potentially higher than, that of the 7500X3D, and significantly higher than the 7500F.
Two factors may explain this pricing strategy. First, the Ryzen 5 7500 might include integrated Radeon graphics, similar to the X3D version, whereas the 7500F is typically sold without integrated graphics. Second, unlike the 7500F, which is often available in OEM or tray packages, the new 7500 is expected to be sold in a boxed package that includes a cooler. AMD has not yet made an official announcement regarding this product. However, Roland Quandt has a history of providing accurate information in previous leaks.
