Alter Ego withdraw from FRAG University due to visa issues
Alter Ego has officially withdrawn from FRAG University. The decision comes after three players were unable to secure visas for the upcoming LAN tournament in Syracuse, New York.
As reported by Dust2.us, the withdrawal occurs just days before the $25,000 event. Consequently, Alter Ego will forfeit their group stage matches, though this is not expected to impact their VRS points.
The situation escalated earlier this week. Player Mārtiņš "shadiy" Gūtmanis stated that the team initially intended to compete using two stand-ins after two visa requests were denied. However, the denial of a third visa left the organization with no choice but to pull out of the tournament.
The withdrawal is a significant loss for the event's diversity, as Alter Ego was set to become the first Asian organization to compete in a FRAG event, joining a lineup of European and South American teams. Following the earlier exit of M80, the confirmed participants for FRAG University now include DENDELE, Imperial, Marsborne, NRG, SportsBetExpert, Wildcard, and Without a Roof.
