AG LoL Head Coach Kang Dong-hoon Targets Gold Medal Regardless of Opponent
AG LoL head coach Kang Dong-hoon has confirmed that the team is targeting a gold medal at the upcoming Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games e-sports tournament, with China's withdrawal from the event solidifying their path to the top spot.
Despite the political dispute preventing China from competing, Coach Kang maintained a cautious stance during the national team mobilization ceremony at the Samsung Cube Convention Center in Seoul on August 25. He emphasized that while China's absence makes a gold medal highly probable, the squad remains focused on delivering high-level performance regardless of their opponents.
The primary rival for AG LoL is now Taiwan, which recently announced its roster featuring former World Championship and First Stand participants. The Taiwanese lineup includes Jung 'Junzia' Chou Chia-wei from CTBC Flying Oyster, Mid Laner 'Hongqiu' Tsai Ming-hung, Top Laner 'Ground Zero' Chen Yi-jen (1Jiang), and a formidable bottom lane pairing.
Coach Kang praised the strength of Taiwan's mid and jungle lanes but highlighted that their top laner is also highly competitive. He noted that the bottom lane cannot be underestimated either. The Korean coaching staff has been reviewing recent matches and discussing strategies with the players to ensure they are fully prepared for the challenge ahead.
