XBOX @ Tokyo Game Show 2026: All the Announcements, Including an Appearance by Hideo Kojima
Tokyo Game Show is a celebration of the creators, developers, and communities shaping the future of gaming. For XBOX, the Tokyo Game Show 2026 was a landmark event: celebrating 25 years of the brand and over 20 years in Japan, the company used the platform to recognize the players and developers who have helped define gaming culture. The broadcast featured 17 fresh gameplay reveals, announcements, a surprise release, and a world premiere, spanning titles from Activision, Bethesda, KOEI TECMO, SEGA, and KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS.
Major Announcements and Returning Franchises
One of the most anticipated reveals was the campaign trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Set against the backdrop of conflict on the Korean Peninsula, the game is scheduled for release on October 23, 2026. Players who pre-order the Standard Digital or Vault Edition can access the campaign early on October 16.
For fans of long-running series, Atlus provided updates on Persona 4 Revival. The remake is slated for release on February 18, 2027, across XBOX Series X|S, PC, and cloud, and will be available via Game Pass. The latest character reveal focused on Naoto Shirogane, a member of the Special Investigation Team.
Additionally, SEGA confirmed that Japan will be featured as one of the locations in Crazy Taxi: World Tour. Players will be able to explore both historic neighborhoods and modern urban landscapes when the game hits the streets in 2027.
World Premieres and New IPs
The broadcast concluded with a massive "one more thing" appearance by Hideo Kojima. The legendary creator revealed fresh updates on OD – KNOCK and PHYSINT, including the news that Swedish actor Bill Skarsgård will portray the lead role in PHYSINT. A new poster featuring Skarsgård and Charlee Fraser was also shared.

- Faraday Blues — a world premiere from Serenity Forge, a surreal sci-fi adventure where players use character cards to rewrite tragic choices across three interconnected visual novels.
- Raji: Kaliyuga — a first look at the sequel from Nodding Heads, pivoting from an isometric view to a full third-person action-adventure.
- Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement — a new metroidvania from ArtPlay (producer IGA), set in 16th-century England, arriving in 2027.
- Genigods: Nezha — a hardcore action RPG based on ancient Chinese mythology from Genigods Lab.
- GACHIAKUTA: BREAKOUT — a survival action RPG based on the hit anime, coming to XBOX and PC in 2027.
Updates and Upcoming Releases
Once Human unveiled its largest free content update to date, the Ocean Expansion: Isles of Abyss, launching October 22, 2026. The update introduces ship-building and deep-sea exploration.
In the JRPG space, Edge of Memories is set to launch on November 5, 2026, while Hope in the City arrives on November 10, 2026. Meanwhile, Fallout 76 has already released its eerie new update, The Slasher.
Finally, Shape of Dreams is available today on XBOX Series X|S and Game Pass. For fans of Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, pre-orders are now open ahead of its March 4, 2027, release.
