Wuthering Waves version 3.8 update ‘Lilies in a Dying Dream’ launches November 12
Kuro Games has officially announced that the version 3.8 update for the free-to-play open-world action RPG Wuthering Waves, titled “Lilies in a Dying Dream,” is scheduled to launch on November 12. This update promises to expand the game's roster with a new Resonator, Lily, alongside a suite of technical optimizations and new gameplay challenges.
The upcoming update introduces Lily as the latest Resonator to join the fray. Alongside this new character, players can look forward to a new Main Quest, Chapter IV Act V titled "A Bouquet for Tomorrow," and a new Tactical Hologram challenge: Calamity Effigy.
Quality-of-Life and Technical Optimizations
Kuro Games is focusing heavily on streamlining the user experience in version 3.8. Key technical improvements include:
- Rover’s Resonance Conversion: The interface for Resonance Conversion has been overhauled for a more streamlined experience. Additionally, equipped Echo sets will now automatically switch to the corresponding Resonance Attribute after conversion. (Rover can be equipped with Echo sets individually for each Resonance Attribute.)
- Guidebook and Challenge Navigation: A new Material Locator button will be added to the Material Collection page in the Guidebook and the Resonator Ascension Planner. This allows players to teleport directly to unlocked challenges or start them immediately. A new "Blitz Mode" will also be available when claiming rewards, allowing players to restart challenges without reloading.
- Animation Improvements: Resonator animations have been optimized, specifically regarding turning in place, movement transitions, and combat hit reactions, aiming for smoother controls and visual fidelity.
- PC Client Management: PC players can now choose between "Full Resources" and "Basic Resources" via the PC Launcher. A new Resource Cleanup feature is also being introduced to help manage storage space, though these features are currently being rolled out through a limited test.
- Console Performance: Supported consoles will gain the ability to toggle between Performance and Quality modes. Notably, PlayStation 5 Pro users can enable PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) to enhance resolution up to 4K. This setting is currently unavailable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S.
New Content and Upcoming Banners
The update also brings new cosmetic items, including the Lune Noire: Hiyaki Deluxe Outfit and the Flaming Sakura accessory for Hiyuki. The event lineup includes several leisure and combat activities, such as the "Second Coming of Solaris: Unwritten Dreams," the "Lollo Campaign: Groundwork," and the 7-day login event "Gifts of Bygone Dreams."
Players should also prepare for the upcoming Convene phases. Phase I of the Resonator Convene will feature Bloom of Yesterday’s Dreamsoil, When the Runes Glitter, and Wanderer Knows No Far and Near. Phase II will include Voices on Azure Feathers, Blessings From Dewy Winds, and Thousand Futures Mirrored in Snow. A new weapon, Lullaby, will also be featured in the upcoming weapon banners.
Additionally, Kuro Games is introducing the Starpath Reverbs II and Tideforge Reverbs II systems, which allow players to select a specific 5-Star Resonator or Weapon as their featured target in the Reverb Convene. Players can change their selection at any time.
