Valve may have started cracking down on bot farms in CS2
According to dataminer and streamer aqua, Valve may have initiated a large-scale crackdown on bot farms in Counter-Strike 2. This is indicated by a sharp decline in the number of players across several game modes over the past week alone.
As the insider reported on X, the largest decline was recorded in Deathmatch, where the player count dropped by approximately 18,000. Significant changes were also observed in other modes:
- Casual — down 12,000 players;
- Deathmatch — down 18,000;
- Arms Race — down 5,000;
- Retake — down 2,500.
According to aqua, such a sharp trend may indicate a wave of bans targeting accounts used by bot farms. Such networks are often used to automatically farm playtime, items, or Prime accounts.
Information about a possible ban wave has also begun appearing on Chinese social media. According to local users, the new wave of bans is allegedly aimed primarily at large bot farms used for mass account farming and other automated operations in CS2. Ozzny shared this information on his X page.
Valve has not officially confirmed a new wave of bans at this time. However, the noticeable decline in activity across certain modes and reports from social media have already sparked active discussion among players, who believe the company may have intensified its fight against AI-powered bots used to farm weekly drops.
