Valve drops surprise update with Big Head mode in CS2
Valve has released a minor update for Counter-Strike 2 that, while appearing routine at first glance, contains several unexpected additions. Beyond standard bug fixes, the patch introduces a new game mode and hidden content that was not explicitly mentioned in the official patch notes.
The most notable addition is the Big Head mode, available on maps within the Casual Defusal Group Alpha. This mode features a mechanic where players' head sizes fluctuate based on their K/D ratio: a negative K/D causes the head to increase in size, while a positive K/D also affects the visual scale of the model.

As this mode was omitted from the official patch notes, it appears to be an "easter egg" from the developers. Additionally, dataminers discovered a new weapon model in the game files, previously known as the M14. It has been renamed to the LAR. According to leaks, this could be the first new gun added to CS2, described as a single-shot rifle similar to the Winchester. However, the weapon appears to be a long way from release, as the model is currently stored in a folder labeled "do_not_ship".

Regarding gameplay changes, Valve added an option to switch the Silent Reload mode from Hold to Toggle. With Toggle enabled, players can tap the reload button again to cancel the silent reload and return to a fast reload. The update also fixed issues where the initial sound of a reload was audible despite using silent reload, and resolved visual bugs involving liquid rendering on AMD video cards.
