Update V13: Balancing Every Day
The developers of Find The Needle are tackling the game's economy head-on. Following feedback from players who felt the gameplay loop had become a grind and that capital was being depleted too quickly, Needless Games has released Update V13. This update marks the first major balancing pass, aimed at smoothing out the progression curve by increasing product value and reducing the scale of orders. The developers have noted that they will be monitoring gameplay stats closely and expect to release frequent updates over the coming days to fine-tune the experience.
The core of the V13 update focuses on making the logistics of farming and processing more rewarding. One of the most significant changes is the increase in product value: loose hay now sells for 25% more, while processed items like bales, eco bricks, slabs, discs, and sacks see a substantial price hike of approximately 69%. Additionally, Stage 1 buyers have become more demanding, now requiring twice as much—specifically 40 wrapped bales and 8 panels per minute. To compensate for this, the cost of essential machinery has been slashed; for instance, the Panel Press plans now cost $400, down from the previous $800, and platform costs have been halved to $5 per square metre. Glass remains at $8 per square metre.
Streamlined Orders and Progression
To prevent the feeling of endless repetition, the scale of orders has been significantly reduced. Most orders now require roughly 40% fewer items than before. Key adjustments include:
The update also introduces several quality-of-life improvements and progression shifts. The first compressor and its plans are now provided for free alongside the order book. Furthermore, the upgrade system for belts, arms, compressors, and wrappers has been expanded, now offering three free levels instead of two. Higher-tier levels (Level 4) and new unlocks, such as the Depot Drone and the ability to extend the Shed, are now tied to specific production milestones like Straw Panels, The Dairy, or the Garden Centre.
Depot Management and UI Enhancements
Management of resources has become more granular with the introduction of new Depot mechanics. Players can now use 'TAKE ONE' or 'TAKE MAX' to manually move stock, or 'EMPTY OUT' to clear items back onto the belt. A new 'Shelf Limits' card ($600) allows players to cap the amount of specific items kept in the Depot. Additionally, the 'Carry More' upgrade now allows players to hold up to 7 items in their arms. A Depot with no belt after it will now drop what it cannot hold instead of selling it.
The UI has also received updates to help players manage their infrastructure. Machines will now display a 'SHORT OF POWER' warning if the grid cannot meet demand, and the Biogas Digester will explicitly notify players if it is consuming bales faster than they can be supplied. Other technical fixes include resolving a crash during loading, fixing an issue where the vacuum would repeatedly eject scrap, and ensuring grid snapping remains active when switching from a joiner to a belt.
