Timeless Bonds in Uma Musume: Details of the New "Shun-taisa-i" Scenario
Cygames' massive hit Uma Musume Pretty Derby continues to expand its reach. Following the buzz surrounding its partnership with the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and exhibitions in Paris, a new chapter is on the horizon. Starting October 26, 2026, the new training scenario "Shun-taisa-i" (午式駿大祭) will be released, promising a deeply atmospheric journey rooted in Japanese tradition and the profound bonds between humans and Uma Musume.
Tradition and Rituals: The Narrative Core
The "Shun-taisa-i" scenario centers on a special festival held once every twelve years during the Year of the Horse. The story begins when several Uma Musume are appointed as "Shinku" (Sacred Horses), tasked with performing five specific ritual performances. As the leader (Shinji-kuma), the player and their trainer must guide the team through rigorous training under the guidance of a mysterious shrine maiden named Azuma (voiced by Kotono Mitsuishi).
The scenario excels in its thematic cohesion. For instance, No Reason participates in a ritual based on traditional banner competitions, while Blast Onepiece takes part in a discipline reminiscent of equestrian vaulting. Beyond the mechanics, the story delves into the concept of the connection between humans and Uma Musume, a theme that has become increasingly central to the franchise's lore.
New Mechanics: "Lessons" and Progression
The gameplay revolves around three innovative systems:
- Ritual Training (Enmoku Keiko): Once the ritual gauge is filled, players can trigger powerful training sessions. These provide massive boosts to stats and skill points but require strategic timing to maximize efficiency.
- The "Lessons" System (Oshie): These are specialized buffs that trainers can bestow upon Uma Musume. These lessons can be swapped at specific intervals, and their effects can be enhanced through a "Transformation" (Tensei) mechanic, allowing players to combine and upgrade previous buffs into more potent versions.
- Early Training Camps: Unlike previous scenarios, training camps can occur as early as the Junior season. While this accelerates stat growth, it requires careful stamina management, as there are fewer recovery events before the camp begins.
A notable quality-of-life feature is the adaptive schedule: if an Uma Musume has a target race during a training camp, the camp duration is extended, ensuring that sprinters and dirt-track specialists are not penalized for their racing schedules.
Stats and Performance Potential
The scenario offers significantly higher stat ceilings. The maximum limit for all core attributes—Speed, Stamina, Power, Guts, and Wisdom—reaches 2500. Additionally, players can unlock new evolution skills, such as Shinsoku and Eishun Gōketsu, to further optimize their Uma Musume.
Testing with Transcend has shown that the scenario allows for exceptional builds; it is possible to reach balanced stats of 1700–1800 across all categories while accumulating over 7,000 skill points, making it a highly potent scenario for competitive play.
