Ugreen Gallery 3: E-Ink Photo Frame with Local AI
UGREEN has unveiled the Gallery 3, a digital photo frame featuring a 13.3-inch E-Ink display and local AI capabilities, at IFA 2026. The device is designed to optimize and display images without sending private photo libraries to the public cloud.
The Gallery 3 utilizes a 13.3-inch "E-Ink" Spectra-6 panel with a resolution of 1,200 × 1,600 pixels. This display technology physically renders four primary colors—red, yellow, blue, and green—along with black and white. Through dithering, the panel can produce up to 54,600 distinct color tones. The matte finish of the E-Ink screen reduces glare compared to traditional IPS or OLED panels, allowing the frame to blend discreetly into its surroundings. The viewing angle reaches 178 degrees, and the display remains visible under ambient light without the reflections typical of standard LCD screens.
Energy efficiency is a key advantage of the E-Ink technology, as the panel only consumes power when the displayed content changes. The integrated 10,000 mAh battery is designed to support up to six months of wireless operation. However, the refresh speed is slower than that of conventional displays; a full page update takes between 15 and 30 seconds, according to E-Ink.
Local AI and Smart Home Integration
The device integrates AI features through UGREEN's HomeAgents platform. These functions are intended to prepare and upscale photos for the E-Ink panel. The manufacturer adopts a local approach for AI and smart home features, connecting the frame to a local hub rather than uploading private photo libraries to a public cloud for analysis. This method is designed to ensure privacy and security.
The local AI capabilities are supported by the MasterAgent MA100 and HomeAgent HA100 and HA100 Pro hubs, which were also introduced at IFA 2026. These hubs allow the AI to evaluate existing images, automatically select suitable photos, and display special pictures or memories on the Gallery 3 on a daily basis. For local storage, the frame includes a microSD card slot supporting cards up to 512 GB. Integrated Wi-Fi enables wireless data transfer.
