Take-Two subpoenas Microsoft and Discord to halt GTA VI leaks

Take-Two Interactive has issued subpoenas to Microsoft and Discord, demanding internal records and user data in an effort to identify the anonymous leaker known as "Cyberleek" who is releasing footage from a playable build of Grand Theft Auto VI.

The legal requests, set to be complied with by September 4, target Microsoft for its investigation files regarding the GitHub repository where leaks were posted and Discord for logs of specific servers. One affected server belongs to content creator Matthew Judge, who expressed confusion over why his channel was implicated in the probe.

Despite the ongoing legal battle, Take-Two is reportedly proceeding with its planned major trailer reveal for GTA VI, which will be released in partnership with Netflix. The company's mood remains tense following this second major cybersecurity breach, which has prompted a return-to-office mandate for hybrid workers.

Beyond the immediate leak, sources indicate that "Cyberleek" has issued threats targeting other major publishers who fail to adhere to its manifesto on digital pre-orders and day-one DLC. Game Developer is awaiting further comment from Take-Two regarding these developments.
