Sony in talks for Battlefield movie with McQuarrie and Jordan
Sony is reportedly in talks to acquire the film rights for an adaptation of Electronic Arts' Battlefield franchise. Christopher McQuarrie is expected to serve as writer, director, and producer, while Michael B. Jordan is linked to the project as a producer.
According to reports from Variety, the negotiations followed a bidding war between multiple studios, though Sony has declined to comment on the deal. While Michael B. Jordan is set to produce, his involvement as a lead actor remains subject to several factors. The production team is expected to include producers such as Jesse Stern from EA, Carter Swan, Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, and Elizabeth Raposo.
The move comes as the franchise maintains significant momentum. The latest installment, Battlefield 6, has become the bestselling first-person shooter of the year and the highest-selling entry in the series' history, reportedly outperforming Call of Duty in sales.
