Shrek 2 Remastered: Microsoft Store leak reveals details
Information has surfaced regarding a potential reissue of the action-adventure Shrek 2. While an official announcement is expected later, a product page in the Microsoft Store was accidentally published and quickly removed, leaving behind a trailer and a detailed description.
The remaster is reportedly being handled by Aspyr, the studio behind Tomb Raider I–III Remastered and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered. The remake promises modern visual standards, including 4K resolution, updated textures, a modernized UI, adjusted cutscenes, a photo mode, and a dedicated cheat mode.
A significant upgrade involves multiplayer capabilities. While the original 2004 release only supported local multiplayer, the remaster is expected to feature full online co-op for up to four players, with support for a mix of local and online participants.
Platforms and Potential Announcement
The leaked entry lists the game for Xbox Series X|S. At this stage, releases for PC, PlayStation, or Nintendo consoles remain unconfirmed. No specific release date or price has been provided. This report is filed under the Vera section.
An official reveal of Shrek 2 Remastered might occur on October 20 during the ID@Xbox Showcase. While Shrek has appeared briefly in the event's teaser, neither Microsoft nor Aspyr has officially confirmed the project's presence at the showcase.
