NVIDIA denies rumors of GeForce RTX 5090 production halt
Rumors suggesting that the flagship GeForce RTX 5090 is being discontinued have been officially refuted. During a recent event in Taipei, Jeff Fischer, head of Personal Computing at NVIDIA, clarified that the graphics card has not reached EOL (End of Life) status.
Supply chain constraints vs. production commitment
While the rumors of discontinuation were dismissed, the availability of the card remains a complex issue. Jeff Fischer noted that supply chain capacities are indeed facing certain constraints. However, he emphasized that NVIDIA remains fully committed to bringing the product to market. Even though multiple variants of the underlying graphics chip exist, the company has no plans to discontinue the flagship model.
The current market situation remains tricky: the GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition, priced at €2,099, is currently unavailable, and the card had previously vanished from some retail listings. While production continues, the existing capacity bottlenecks mean that the actual volume and pricing for consumers in the near future remain uncertain.
Professional vs. Consumer allocation
A significant point of uncertainty is the allocation of manufacturing resources. NVIDIA has not provided specific details regarding future production volumes or how GB202 chips will be distributed between consumer GeForce cards and professional RTX PRO products. This leaves open the possibility that professional-grade hardware could be prioritized, which would directly impact the availability and market presence of the gaming flagship.
