The MPL Malaysia Season 18 grand final delivered a high-stakes showdown as Selangor Red Giants faced off against Team Rey. The series went the distance, requiring a full seven maps to determine the winner, with Selangor Red Giants ultimately securing a 4:3 victory to claim the championship.
Selangor Red Giants' path to the grand final was marked by dominance. They secured a 3:0 victory over Bigetron MY by VIT in the upper bracket semifinals and followed it up with another 3:0 sweep against Team Rey in the upper bracket final, earning a direct spot in the championship match and a guaranteed slot at the M8 World Championship.
Following their loss in the upper bracket, Team Rey fought through the lower bracket, defeating Team Vamos 4:2 to secure a rematch. However, in the grand final, Selangor Red Giants proved too strong, clinching the series in the seventh map.
A Sixth Consecutive Title
This victory marks a historic milestone for Selangor Red Giants, as they have now secured their sixth consecutive regional league title. Their winning streak in MPL Malaysia began in Season 13 and has spanned the last five seasons.
