Sega and Creative Assembly withdraw Shogun 2 Remaster from sale
Sega and Creative Assembly have temporarily withdrawn Total War: Shogun 2 – Complete Edition from sale. The move comes in response to widespread player concerns regarding performance issues and the use of AI-driven graphics upscaling.
Since its launch on October 13, the remaster has faced overwhelmingly negative reviews on Steam. Players reported significant technical flaws, specifically citing AI-generated visual artifacts in unit cards and new cutscenes, such as extra fingers or armor merging into character models.
In a joint statement, both companies acknowledged that the title "has fallen short of both your expectations and our own standards." They admitted that the current state of the game is not where it needs to be and confirmed they are working with platform holders to temporarily remove the remaster and reinstate the original game while they investigate the issues.
Existing owners will maintain access to the game. Sega and Creative Assembly stated they are working closely with their development partners to identify the root causes of these problems and ensure that Shogun 2 – Complete Edition meets the quality standards expected by the Total War community.
