sAw: "We are stagnating or even taking steps back"
G2 coach Eetu "sAw" Saha acknowledged that the team is facing significant struggles following defeats at PGL Masters Bucharest 2026. In an interview with HLTV.org, he addressed the lack of progress, coordination issues in crucial round moments, and the adaptation process of AWPer Artem "r1nkle" Moroz.
According to the coach, while G2 can compete with top-tier opponents, the squad lacks coordination during the closing stages of rounds. Individual decision-making errors and a lack of patience often lead to lost rounds, even when the team holds a numerical advantage. Players frequently attempt to peek solo instead of playing together, often due to insufficient communication in high-pressure moments.
This lack of development is particularly concerning following their second-place finish at FISSURE Playground 3. Despite having extra practice time after being eliminated from the ESL Pro League Season 24 group stage, the team's performance has deteriorated. sAw noted that instead of the expected improvement, the squad feels as though they are stagnating or even taking steps backward.
The coach also touched upon Artem "r1nkle" Moroz, whose arrival was part of a major roster rebuild. sAw described the move as a risky decision that requires time, noting that such a transition cannot be completed in a single month. The coaching staff is focused on gradually expanding his role within the system without overwhelming him, while praising his positive mindset and openness to feedback.
Currently, G2 has opened PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 with two 0:2 series losses. The team is now one loss away from elimination and must rectify their tactical errors to secure a spot in the playoffs.
