Razer announces Wolverine V4 controller lineup for Xbox and PC
Razer has unveiled the Wolverine V4 lineup, introducing the wireless Wolverine V4 Pro and the wired Wolverine V4 Tournament Edition for Xbox and PC. These esports-focused controllers feature capacitive thumbstick sensors and support an 8000Hz polling rate on PC.
Control technology and precision
Moving away from Hall Effect or TMR alternatives, Razer has implemented contactless capacitive sensors paired with a 16-bit ADC chip. According to the manufacturer, this setup allows the asymmetrical thumbsticks to register approximately 3000 movement steps, offering high resolution and resistance to magnetic interference while remaining drift-free.
On PC, both the wired and wireless versions of the Wolverine V4 Pro support HyperPolling at up to 8000Hz, achieving sub-1ms response times. For Xbox Series X|S consoles, the connectivity operates at a maximum of 250Hz.
Customization and ergonomics
The controllers are equipped with six mappable action buttons, including four removable magnetic back buttons and two claw-grip bumpers. The Pro HyperTriggers technology allows players to switch between instant actuation and full analogue pulls, with adjustable actuation points ranging from 1.3mm to 8.2mm via Razer Synapse software.
The Pro model offers extensive physical customization, allowing users to swap thumbstick caps and the faceplate. The build features textured TPU side grips, PBT mecha-tactile face buttons, and an eight-way floating D-pad. Users can store up to four onboard profiles to manage custom button layouts, trigger settings, and dead zones (ranging from 0% to 15%).
Pricing and availability
The Wolverine V4 Pro is priced at $199.99 (£199.99 / €209.99), while the Tournament Edition is available for $99.99 (£99.99 / €109.99).
