To participate, you'll need to collect Pumpkin Candy to unlock themed decorations and build a specific habitat for Pumpkaboo. The event runs from October 17th to November 1st (until 4:59 AM local time).
To access the festivities, you must have rebuilt at least one Pokémon Center and learned the Camouflage ability from Zorua at Bleak Beach. Keep in mind that this event is not available in Bubbly Basin or Cloud Islands. If you find yourself in Bubbly Basin, look for a notification directing you toward Withered Wasteland.
The core of the event revolves around gathering Pumpkin Candy. You can do this by using Camouflage to disguise yourself as a Pokémon's favorite item. Once a Pokémon notices you—signaled by a speech bubble saying 'A [Item Name]'—you must drop the disguise to surprise them. Each successful trick yields between one and three candies. Pro tip: using items already present in a Pokémon's habitat, such as a Picnic Basket for Pikachu, can help you identify the right disguise. Note that there is a hidden cooldown for tricking the same Pokémon, so it is more efficient to move between different targets.
You can spend your hard-earned candy at Pumpkaboo's shop, located inside any rebuilt Pokémon Center. The shop offers various items like Candy Bucket, Pumpkin Lantern, and Ghost Smoke Projector. If you purchase the entire collection for a total of 20 Pumpkin Candy, you will unlock the Trick or Treat photo frame.
For collectors looking to expand their Habitat Dex, the Give Me Something Good To Eat habitat is available. To construct it, you will need one Table (any type), one Candy Bucket, and one Ghost Smoke Projector. These components can be purchased from Pumpkaboo for a total of 5 Pumpkin Candy.
