Ninkear L20 Mini-PC: Lunar Lake in a compact form factor

The Ninkear L20 brings the modern Intel Lunar Lake architecture to the mini PC market. Equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 5 226V and 16 GB of high-speed LPDDR5X memory (8,533 MT/s), this compact machine aims to deliver high-end productivity without the typical compromises of small-form-factor systems.

Architecture and Performance

At the heart of the Ninkear L20 is the efficient Intel Core Ultra 5 226V (8 cores, 8 threads). Featuring integrated Intel Arc Graphics 130V and a dedicated NPU, the L20 is well-positioned for AI-driven applications and multimedia consumption. In everyday scenarios—such as office productivity and web browsing—the system provides smooth, responsive performance with stable clock speeds under sustained loads.

However, users seeking heavy multi-threaded performance or high-end gaming may find more capable alternatives. When compared to powerful Ryzen-based mini PCs, such as the Minisforum AI X1, the L20 falls behind in raw computational power and graphical throughput.

Connectivity and Expandability

The Ninkear L20 features a sturdy metal chassis and a versatile array of ports, including USB4, HDMI, and DisplayPort, making it a highly capable hub for modern workstations. It also supports VESA mounting for space-saving setups.

There are, however, significant trade-offs regarding upgradability. The LPDDR5X RAM is soldered to the motherboard, meaning the memory capacity cannot be expanded after purchase. Additionally, the primary SSD is limited by a PCIe 3.0 x2 interface, which restricts sequential transfer speeds compared to faster PCIe 4.0-based competitors. On the bright side, an extra M.2 slot is available for additional storage expansion.

Power and Acoustics

While the L20 is notably efficient during heavy workloads, its idle power consumption is relatively high compared to some peers. Acoustically, the device is audible under load, reaching noise levels of up to 45.6 dB(A). While not excessively loud, it does not lead the class in terms of silence.

Ultimately, the Ninkear L20 serves as a well-rounded all-rounder for office and multimedia use. It offers a modern, connected platform, though users must accept the limitations of non-expandable RAM and a bottlenecked SSD interface.
