Midnight Season 3 Dungeon Pool Preview
Following the announcement of the "Midnight" Season 3 dungeon pool during the Midnight: What’s Next panel at BlizzCon 2026, the Blizzard Entertainment development team has shared an early look at the upcoming changes. The focus remains on addressing player feedback regarding encounter pacing, ability clarity, and visual updates to align with the modern visual language of World of Warcraft.
A major highlight of the update is the full revamp of The Stonecore. The dungeon is set to undergo both visual and mechanical modernization, featuring new designs for every enemy and boss encounter, alongside updated models for several familiar creatures. Similarly, Iron Docks will receive a substantial refresh, including updated abilities for all four boss encounters and a redesign of the Iron Stars to make runs less dependent on them.
Structural changes are also coming to Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr to improve pacing. The dungeon will be reduced from five bosses to four in Heroic, Mythic, and Mythic+ modes by deactivating the Lost Dwarves encounter. Additionally, the Emberon encounter is being adjusted so that Purging Flames triggers based on health thresholds rather than energy cycles, preventing excessively long fights at higher keystone levels.
Other notable updates include:
- Maisara Caverns and Magisters’ Terrace: New exploration paths, updated library events, and revised mechanics for bosses like Muro’jin, Nekraxx, and Degentrius.
- Sanguine Depths: Streamlined enemy kits, such as combining Dark Acolytes and Wicked Oppressors, and reducing the density of caster packs.
- The Underrot: New routing options in the final section and adjustments to the Elder Leaxa encounter to reduce the emphasis on interrupt gameplay.
The developers cautioned that these plans are subject to change as development and testing continue. Further details regarding specific goals and changes will be shared once the PTR for the update is announced.
